About Bloons Tower Defense 3

Bloons Tower Defense 3, commonly shortened to BTD 3, is a classic browser strategy game developed by Ninja Kiwi. It expands the original Bloons TD formula with more tracks, selectable difficulty levels, new defensive towers, advanced upgrades, and much stronger Bloon types.

BTD 3 introduces the Spike-O-Pult as an independent tower and adds the Monkey Beacon, a support structure that improves nearby defenses. It also includes disposable items such as Road Spikes, Monkey Glue, and Pineapples, giving you ways to respond when your permanent towers cannot stop a dangerous wave.

Later rounds contain Lead, Zebra, Rainbow, Ceramic, and M.O.A.B.-class Bloons. These enemies require more than large numbers of basic Dart Monkeys. You must combine damage types, improve tower range and attack speed, and prepare specifically for the strengths of each Bloon.

How to Play Bloons Tower Defense 3

  1. Begin by selecting a track and choosing Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulty. The difficulty affects factors such as your starting lives, tower prices, Bloon speed, and the number of rounds required for victory.
  2. Study the complete track before buying anything. Look for curves, loops, intersections, and central spaces where one tower can attack several parts of the route.
  3. Select a tower from the side panel and move it onto the map. Its circular range indicator shows which sections it can cover. Click on a valid position to complete the purchase, then start the round when your opening defense is ready.
  4. Towers attack automatically, and every popped Bloon layer generates money. Completing a round also provides additional income. Spend this money on new defenses or upgrades for towers already occupying strong positions.

Tips & Tricks

  • Start on Easy difficulty while learning the towers. Lower prices and additional lives give you more room to test placements.
  • Place Dart Monkeys near bends instead of short straight sections. Longer track coverage produces more attacks from the same investment.
  • Position Tack Shooters inside curves. Their circular firing pattern is most effective when Bloons travel around several sides of the tower.
  • Use Spike-O-Pults on long straight paths. Their projectiles can pierce a line of Bloons instead of striking only the first target.
  • Add explosive damage before Lead Bloons arrive. Dart Monkeys and Tack Shooters cannot pop Lead layers with their standard attacks.
  • Do not rely entirely on Cannons. Black Bloons resist explosions and can escape if you lack conventional popping power.
  • Save Road Spikes for emergencies. They disappear after absorbing a limited number of Bloons and do not provide long-term value.

FAQ

How do I defeat a M.O.A.B.?

Build strong single-target damage before the M.O.A.B. round and ensure your defenses can also destroy the Bloons released when the blimp breaks. Do not spend all your money on temporary road items.

Can I play Bloons Tower Defense 3 without Flash?

The original game was created with Adobe Flash. Many modern websites use an emulator that runs the game inside the browser without requiring the old Flash plugin.

What difficulty levels are available?

You can choose Easy, Medium, or Hard. Higher difficulties reduce your margin for error through changes to lives, prices, Bloon speed, and required progression.

What towers were added in BTD 3?

Notable additions include the Spike-O-Pult and the Monkey Beacon. The game also features temporary Pineapple bombs alongside Road Spikes and Monkey Glue.

How do I pop Lead Bloons?

Use explosive damage from Cannons or correctly timed Pineapples. Standard darts, tacks, boomerangs, and Spike-O-Pult projectiles cannot damage Lead layers.

Why are Black Bloons passing my Cannons?

Black Bloons resist explosive damage. Add Dart Monkeys, Tack Shooters, Boomerang Throwers, Spike-O-Pults, or Super Monkeys to cover this weakness.

What does the Monkey Beacon do?

It supports towers within its radius. Its upgrades can improve nearby defenses and eventually provide powerful additional functions.
